Macquarie Memo Issue 5 - 2024
News from the Principal
I hope everyone has had a wonderful long weekend with family and friends and overindulging.
Our students had a fabulous day at our 2-6 and K-1 Athletics Carnivals yesterday. A big thank you to Sean for all his organisation, to Steph for organising the K-1 carnival and to all our parent volunteers. Thank you to our P&C for their generous donation of a sausage sizzle per student and for all their hard work and organisation for the day.
Today our 3/4 students are participating in a Futsal competition, we wish them all the very best.
Next Monday 2KB, 2SD and 2EM will be attending an excursion to Blundell’s Cottage as part of their unit of inquiry this term.
Next Wednesday we will be having a special assembly at 12:20pm to showcase our students learning that have participated in the Wiradjuri Echoes program. We would love you to join us for this special performance.
Next term, we have some infrastructure projects happening, including the upgrade of our staff and accessible toilets and a new HVAC system in our school hall. This will mean that our school hall will be out of action for term 2. We will keep you informed as to where After School Care will be located during this time and how we will be hosting assemblies.
I would like to congratulate our wonderful School Secretary Jess Shaw, who has been successful at winning a temporary secondment in the Education Directorate, for three months. Jess' last day will be tomorrow 05 April. A recruitment process is underway to fill Jess' position. Jess has been an integral part of Macquarie for the last 12 years and she will be sadly missed. I am sure you will join me in congratulating her.
Next term, Jenelle Martin will be taking Long Service Leave and Emily Howes will be teaching 3/4JM. I would like to wish Jenelle all the best and we are looking forward to her return in term 3. I would like to warmly welcome Emily to our Macquarie community.
Next week is our last week of term 1 2024, I hope you all have a wonderful break with your families, and we are looking forward to an exciting term 2.
Kind regards
Kristy
A reminder of the upcoming student-free days. These are the first day of each school term.
Term 2, Monday 29 April 2024
Term 3, Monday 22 July 2024
Term 4, Monday 14 October 2024.
We use these student-free days for staff development, enabling us to plan in a student-free environment. Student-free planning days have been expanded from 1 to 4 days from 2024 as part of our new Teaching Staff Enterprise Agreement which prioritises better teacher workloads for educational leadership, teaching and learning.
